An 18-year-old Dutch man was critically injured and and six other men were hurt by a knife-wielding Libyan man who is now under arrest, the police said this morning.

The incident happened during an argument in Paceville at 4am.

The injured are two Dutch men aged 19, the 18-year-old, two Libyans aged 31 and 38 and a 29-year-old Maltese from Kirkop. The age and nationality of one of the victims was not known.

The police said the aggressor, a 20-year-old Libyan, was arrested after a search.

A magisterial inquiry is under way.

Reports on the social media this morning said that 25 people were injured but the police said when contacted that seven, including the aggressor, were injured.
