Anton ZeilingerAnton Zeilinger

Anton Zeilinger, one of Europe’s most influential quantum physicists, will give a talk entitled ‘Teleportation… and what is light?’ on Friday at 7pm at the University’s Valletta campus.

Teleportation may sound like the stuff of science fiction, but a few years ago scientists showed it is actually possible. At the event, Zeilinger will talk on the reality of teleportation and quantum physics, how entanglement allows scientists to do bizarre things, and his quest to understand what light really is.

Zeilinger is the president of the Austrian Academy of Sciences. He has published more than 550 scientific articles and received over 30 awards, including the Wolf Prize and the Isaac Newton medal.

An asteroid was named after him in 2005.

The talk is being held by non-profit organisation Cafe Scientifique, with the support of Foster Clarks. Entrance is free but registration is required as space is limited.
