The relevance of psychometric assessments for companies to help them define people’s characteristics and attributes will be main topic of discussion of a half-day workshop on psychometric assessments being organised by Misco on September 24.

The three-hour morning workshop starts at 9am and is aimed at HR professionals and all those who are interested in psychometrics and in knowing the benefits of using them as a daily tool. The workshop will also deal with linking day-to-day performance to HR strategy and to the organisation’s business strategy, mission and vision.

The workshop will also feature Grace Walsh, business psychologist from PCL who will lead an in-depth discussion on the importance of psychometric assessments for today’s industry and how these can benefit organisations who choose to utilise them.

Walsh is a graduate from the University of Hull with an MSc in work and organisational psychology. She specialises in personality assessment, delivering solutions for selection, personal development, team building, leadership development and employee engagement.

“Employers are usually faced with long lists of questions when they come to identify high potential employees or which candidates would be the best suited for a promotion or to fill a role. We all look at individuals through our own eyes and make decisions based on personal subjective perceptions.

“The psychometric process helps put an objective dimension to this and simply aims to do what we all try to do intuitively on a day-to-day basis – finding the right words to sum other people up through assessments that are systematic, fair and capable of being repeated with different people in a standardised way.

“This is why Misco applies the Profile: Match system because this has been recognised as one of the best methods to identifying essential and desirable characteristics which are predictable of high performance for various roles,” explained Odessa Farrugia from Misco Malta.

“The workshop will assist HR professionals to understand how to make the best decisions by identifying the ‘must have’ competencies, how to develop talent internally to set new personal goals and objectives that will help in mapping out realistic and attainable paths for personal development and creating the opportunity to improve competencies and interpersonal performance,” added Ms Farrugia.
