An elderly couple was hospitalised this afternoon after the car they were in crashed into a wall in Zabbar.

The police said the passenger, a 77-year-old woman from Marsascala, is in a critical condition.

The 77-year-old man from Gharb, who was driving the car, lost control of the vehicle in Villa Abate Street Zabbar at around 3.45pm. His condition is not yet known.

An inquiry is being held.

A 69-year-old man from Hamrun was critically injured in a separate accident at Triq il-Ġebla tal-Ġeneral, in San Lawrenz at 2.50pm.

The police said the man was riding towards Dwejra when he fell off his Piaggio Typhoon after he lost control.

He was taken to Gozo General Hospital.
