Saint Martin’s Institute of Higher Education has organised the 2015 graduation and awards ceremony for students graduating in their MQF Level 5 diploma in entrepreneurship. Sameer Hosany, the director for the BSc programmes from Royal Holloway, University of London, congratulated graduates on their achievements while conferring the diplomas during the ceremony held on August 28.

Graduates are now offered the opportunity to read for the Level 6 Bachelor of Science, having a choice to specialise in international business, marketing or human resources. Waqas Ali Shah from Pakistan and André Debono from Malta received the Bank of Valletta academic achievement award for the best overall grades attained during the past academic year in the diploma in entrepreneurship.

Hosany distributed certificates to the graduates of the diploma in computing and information systems, diploma in creative computing, diploma in economics and diploma in social sciences on behalf of the University of London.

Saint Martin’s Institute also took the occasion to celebrate and award students who achieved the highest mark at a distinction level in each University of London examination from among all the institute’s students. A letter of commendation was presented by Edel Cassar, CEO of the National Commission for Further and Higher Education to each awarded student.

In his opening speech, the institute’s principal Charles Theuma said that Saint Martin’s students and graduates are every year among the highly awarded students by the University of London for their academic achievement, scoring the best marks worldwide. This year half its graduates in computing have achieved a first class honours. The institute is celebrating its 30th anniversary since is foundation and 15 years as an affiliate of the University of London.

Saint Martin’s efforts in providing higher education of international standards in Malta includes a financial assistance scheme open to students who may not have the means to pay for their qualification at the institute. In conjunction with Bank of Valletta, the institute is providing an interest free loan with a capital repayment moratorium for three years of study to cover the applicable tuition fees. The loan is paid through proceeds from the GetQualified scheme and full-time students also receive stipends and maintenance grants through the MGUS. Few places remain for the next academic year in diploma and degree programmes offered by its departments of computing and information systems and business entrepreneurship and finance.
