The Quality Assured (QA) seal for restaurants, an initiative that was launched by the Malta Tourism Authority, aims to help locals and tourists make an informed choice about the best places to eat in Malta. Since its inception, the QA seal has also been a way for quality restaurants to gain a competitive edge and to encourage a quality leap in the sector through the creation of benchmarks.

The criteria of the QA seal cover all the essential elements that constitute a good dining experience, from the quality of service to hospitality, food and the overall environment of the restaurant.

The assessment of the restaurant is split in two parts. The first part is carried out annually through a mystery-guest visit by trained people, while the second part involves an announced visit that takes place once every two years.

All Quality Assured restaurants are awarded a certificate and plaque carrying the QA logo to be displayed at their premises.

“When we saw an advert promoting the Quality Assured seal at the Malta Tourism Authority, the whole team at Scruples was immediately keen on taking on this challenge as a new experience to boost our quality and business. We were astonished when, besides actually being awarded the QA title, we also won the Best in Class award. The restaurant is benefiting greatly from the ongoing promotions by the Malta Tourism Authority. It’s been a truly positive experience.”

“We were attracted to the scheme because we were confident that the quality service and food we offer would be rewarded, especially since we knew that judging was in the hands of a professional national entity like the MTA. The team was extremely excited because the seal does put more pressure on us to keep delivering and to maintain the high standards that have made us so popular with clients. Since achieving the QA award and being announced overall winners, we have actually seen a positive difference in our bookings, particularly from tourists who want to experience the restaurant after seeing the MTA promotions. But it has also helped us keep our feet on the ground and work harder as a team. After all, we now have more pressure to deliver good quality service and food, to keep up and justify the award we’ve won.”

“Our decision to participate for the QA seal was based on the fact that we wished to offer diners, both local ones and tourists, the opportunity to make an informed decision. By being part of this seal we help those who are looking for a quality restaurant to identify the standards that are offered.

As a restaurant, we are also benefiting from having our name listed among the top-quality assured restaurants. It is good to be able to give our customers peace of mind!”
