BORG. On September 2, PAUL of Gżira, went to meet the Risen Lord, at the age of 69. Never forgotten by his wife Helen, his son Mark Anthony and his daughter Cynthia and her husband Roberto, his grandchildren Kyra, Laura and Luca, his sister Marlene, Doris, widow of his brother Alfred, his mother-in-law Carmela, his brother-in-law Joseph and his sister-in-law Miriam and their families, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 1.30pm for Our Lady of Mount Carmel parish church, Gżira, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 2pm, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

CAMILLERI. On September 4, at Mater Dei Hospital, MARY ANN of Naxxar, widow of Saviour, aged 95, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her great loss her children Jane and her husband Alfred Mifsud, Silvio and his wife Josephine, May and her husband Anton Abdilla, Oliver and his wife Mariella, Godwin and his wife Vinney, Terezino Borg, widower of her daughter Josephine, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her brother Carmelo Vella and his wife Alice and Anna, widow of her brother Roger Vella, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 2.30pm for Naxxar parish church where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 3pm, followed by interment in the family grave at Naxxar cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Puttinu Cares Children’s Cancer Support Group, Rainbow Ward, Mater Dei Hospital, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

PACE. On September 3, at Mater Dei Hospital, MARY, of Tarxien, aged 88, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband John, her children Sylvia, Valerie, William, Grace and May and their spouses, her 17 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 1.30pm for the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery chapel where Mass præsentecadavere will be said at 2pm followed by interment in the family grave. Donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza would be appreciated. The family would like to thank the staff at Żejtun Home and at Mater Dei Hospital. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

De Valette’s sword

The battle sword and hat of Grand Master Jean de Valette, which were being hosted at the old chapel of Our Lady Damascene in Vittoriosa, are currently being exhibited at the offices of the Vittoriosa local council at the Auberge de France in Vittoriosa, as part of the Great Siege 1565 Victory Exhibition curated by the council.
