I refer to letters published in the Times of Malta and would like to clarify matters.

In the 2015 Budget, excise tax on mobile services increased from three to four per cent, effective from January 1, 2015.

In the case of Go pre-paid customers, this excise tax is deducted once, when the customers’ prepaid balance is topped up. The remaining pre-paid balance can be used by the customer for any other service or offer.

Go is currently offering one gigabyte of mobile data for €6 monthly, which would be the amount deducted from one’s pre-paid balance should customers decide to avail themselves of this offer.

There are no further charges once the respective bundle has been bought.

For more information on excise tax on mobile services, customers are encouraged to visit www.go.com.mt/faqs where all the amounts, net of excise taxes, are clearly explained.
