Fourteen Lufthansa crew will be wearing 1950s’ style outfits as part of the airline’s 60th anniversary celebrations. Starting in mid-September they will be on flights to destinations in North America and the Arabian Gulf.

On selected European flights, a Lufthansa CityLine Crew of three will also swap their uniforms for Bavarian costumes.

Lufthansa associates at Munich airport’s passenger service will be also wearing dirndls and jackets, while to mark Oktoberfest, many station employees will also be wearing the Lufthansa costume.

Oktoberfest will also be celebrated in the Munich Lufthansa Lounges and First Class sections with Bavarian delicacies.

New features for MyMelita app

Melita has launched two functionality upgrades to the MyMelita app.

The latest version offers real-time monitoring of usage for all contracts and subscriptions: prepaid, hybrid and pay-monthly plans. App users are also free to choose the level of detail they require, ranging from the balance of available free minutes to downloadable itemised call records.

A second functionality will identify a user’s exact location via GPS and suggest the closest Melita Wi-Fi outdoor zones.

Over 15,000 users have already downloaded the MyMelita app since launch.

Emirates partnership with events leader MCI

Emirates and MCI have formed a two-year global alliance which will see Emirates becoming the official airline for its large and international events.

MCI will in turn be the preferred Professional Congress Organiser (PCO) for Emirates. The strategic partnership will help Emirates build a strong meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibition commercial brand in the meetings industry and better cater to its diverse and frequent business travellers.

MCI is responsible for over 4,500 events annually.

Shireburn wins Ecuador airport contract

Quito International Airport, Ecuador, has chosen Shireburn Software’s solution to manage its concessionaires and non-aeronautical revenues. The project was won through an international tender process in conjunction with Ikusi, Shireburn’s distributor for Latin America.

Last year, Quito welcomed six million passengers and continues to show a steady increase year on year.

€5,000 prize fromGasanZammit
