Chalobah: Nathaniel Chalobah has joined Napoli on a season-long loan deal from Chelsea. The England U-21 international, who has effectively spent the past three seasons away from his parent club, has headed to Serie A to find first-team football. Chalobah can play in defence or midfield.

Cleverly: Everton midfielder Tom Cleverly has sustained ligament damage but he has not fractured his ankle as initially feared, manager Roberto Martinez said. Cleverley, who joined the club on a free transfer from Manchester United, was carried off on a stretcher late in the first half of Saturday’s 0-0 Premier League draw at Tottenham Hotspur after a challenge by Eric Dier. “He has got ligament damage and the next step will be to see how long he is going to be out,” Martinez said.

Gradel: Bournemouth forward Max Gradel could be out for six months after tearing a cruciate ligament in his knee during Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Leicester. The Ivory Coast international, who was sidelined with a similar injury in 2013, was signed by the Premier League club for a reported seven million pounds from Saint Etienne in August. The 27-year-old returned to the Cherries seven years after leaving the club, where he spent two separate loan spells in the 2007-08 season.

Liberia: Liberia will host their first full international match since the lifting of an Ebola ban when they play Tunisia in an African Nations Cup qualifier in Monrovia on Saturday. Liberia last hosted an international in May 2014 when they beat Lesotho 1-0 in a Nations Cup qualifier in the capital. They were subsequently banned from hosting any international soccer as the outbreak of Ebola virus led to some 4,800 deaths in the west African country.

Cook double: Having waited almost 20 years for a first World Cup win, the tiny Cook Islands were left celebrating their second in three days which put them on the brink of reaching the next round in Oceania qualifying. Midfielder Taylor Saghabi, who scored a hat-trick in the breakthrough 3-0 win over Tonga on Monday, bagged the winner via a 39th minute free-kick yesterday as the Cook Islanders edged Samoa 1-0, in Tonga.

Cahill: Veteran forward Tim Cahill will replace injured midfielder Mile Jedinak as Australia captain for today’s World Cup qualifier against Bangladesh in Perth. Jedinak, who skippered Australia to the Asian Cup title in January, has been ruled out of the Group B fixture as well as Tuesday’s clash in Tajikistan after picking up a hamstring injury playing for Crystal Palace.
