In his letter ‘Why focus on exclusion?’ (August 29), Anthony Girard insisted on inclusion rather than on exclusion. He is right and I share his view.

Christ came to include and save all people and so I, as a faithful follower of Christ, would like to see all people being included and saved.

Despite all this, in the parable of the 10 virgins, Christ told the five foolish, that is, to quote Girard, those “unable to tick all the boxes “I know you not.”

When the Apostles wondered at Christ because the majority had left him, he answered them: “Do you also want to go?” This is the all-inclusive Christ! Probably, Girard disagrees with Christ.

He said: “Where on earth did he get this from, I ask.” He was commenting on my words that “contraceptives are intrinsically evil”. He needs to read and meditate on the Bible and the Catechism of the Catholic Church more deeply. Besides, if he had read my letter ‘Two burning issues’ well, he would have had the answer to his question because I gave the source of what I had said.

On Holy Communion to remarried divorcees, Girard said that what I had written is the “exact opposite to what Pope Francis has been professing”. His is just a vague and sweeping statement. Not even one quote by Pope Francis came from his pen to prove his allegation.

On the other hand, he admitted that I mean well as I quote from the magisterium of the Church, the catechism and encyclicals. I thank him for the compliment.
