Spanish winger Joaquin said it was “a dream come true” after completing his return to Real Betis, yesterday. The 34-year-old joins from Fiorentina, nine years after leaving Betis to move to Valencia.
The former Spain international had one year left on his contract with Fiorentina, whom he joined in 2013 from Malaga, but asked the Italian club to allow him to return to Betis.
Betis and Fiorentina reached an agreement for Joaquin’s return to Spain ahead of the end of the transfer window in Italy.
“This is a dream come true,” Joaquin said.
“To return to Betis is what I wanted. I’m back home and ready to fight for this club.”
Blaszczykowski signing
Poland winger Jakub Blaszczykowski joined Fiorentina on loan from Borussia Dortmund, ending an eight-year spell at the club.
“Kuba is not only a good footballer but a wonderful person. For him it is important to get plenty of match practice in the run-up to Euro 2016,” Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc said.
A cruciate knee ligament injury has restricted him to 29 appearances in the last two seasons and he has struggled to regain his place in the team after returning to fitness.
The 29-year-old made 197 Bundesliga appearances for Dortmund following his move from Wisla Krakow in 2007.
