Andrew Beane has been appointed the new CEO of HSBC Malta with effect from November 2, subject to regulatory approval, the bank said.

He will be replacing Mark Watkinson who will be taking up a new role as CEO at HSBC Bermuda, subject to regulatory approval in Bermuda.

Mr Beane is currently chief of staff to the CEO of HSBC Europe, Middle East and Africa, in which capacity he serves as a member of the executive and risk committees of HSBC Bank plc, the parent company.

He is also a non-executive director of HSBC Armenia. Mr Beane has been with the HSBC Group since 2002 and his previous roles include assignments in the United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates, Hong Kong and the United States, primarily in the areas of commercial banking and strategy and planning.
