Mothers have hailed him a sex symbol, his £1.50 vests sent the media into a frenzy – and now a paper coffee cup used by Jeremy Corbyn has been sold on ebay for £51.

Corbynmania has reached new heights as fans of the Labour leadership favourite entered a bidding war over the disposable cup.

It attracted 23 bids and sold for £51 – with all the money going to Age UK. The item description, written on August 20 when it was listed, states that Corbyn handed the seller the cup at the Playhouse in Nottingham.

Derby fan needs extra time

A Norwegian Derby County fan spent £5,000 to bring his family to watch a Saturday game to celebrate his 60th birthday – only for the game to be switched to a Monday night game for TV.

Finn Steen and his party of 11 had booked flights, hotels and tickets to see the Rams take on Burnley in the Championship on Saturday, September 19.

But the game has been put back to Monday to be shown live on Sky Sports with the unlucky Steen and his group leaving the country 24 hours before the game kicks off.

Viking coins declared treasure

Viking coins from 1,000 years ago have been officially declared as treasure.

The hoard, which dates back to the 10th and 11th centuries, was found in Llandwrog, North Wales, by a local man using a metal detector.

Experts believe the hoard was deliberately buried in the ground between 1020 and 1030 in a bid to store the silver.

Intruders found asleep in garage

Officers found a couple asleep in a garage with the light on after a homeowner reported a burglary.

Police in New Castle, Pennsylvania, said the homeowner had gone downstairs and found a glass jar containing cash missing, some furniture moved and cabinets opened. She also found her safe on the back porch, her purse missing and her basement door forced open.

Police said they found the sleeping intruders after noticing the garage light was on. Spencer Peak, 21, faces a preliminary hearing on September 1 on burglary and other charges. The woman found with Peak has not been charged.

Roadside delivery by police chief

A Colorado police chief helped deliver his own daughter after calling 911 from a motorway turn-off.

An emergency dispatcher talked Eagle police chief Joey Staufer through the delivery in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Emergency responders arrived and took new mother, Vio, and her daughter to the hospital. The newborn girl is said to be doing well.

Dog alerts family to fire at house

A US family escaped a house fire unhurt thanks, in part, to their pet dog.

Officials for the Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District said the family was alerted to the fire on the porch of their home in Spanish Springs, Nevada, by one of their dogs.

Two adults, a child and four dogs were safely evacuated before firefighters arrived and the flames spread into the house and the attic.
