The Birżebbuġa local council is blaming fish farms for a greasy substance spotted floating close to Delimara and which yesterday drew swimmers' complaints.

The council said the substance was made up of the remains of feed used by fish farms and it has notified the planning authority about the matter.

The council called the incident “another example of how industrial activity was affecting ordinary citizens’ entertainment”. It called for coordinated action.
