Hojbjerg: Bayern Munich midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has gone on loan to Schalke for the rest of the season in order to get more match practice. The 20-year-old Danish international, who has been at the club since 2012, has struggled to win a spot in a crowded midfield for some time and also spent the second half of the 2014-15 season with Bundesliga rivals Augsburg.

Belgium: Belgium coach Marc Wilmots made six changes when he named his squad for the Euro 2016 qualifiers against Bosnia and Israel, including giving recalls to forward Adnan Januzaj and captain Vincent Kompany. Belgium, second in FIFA’s world rankings, lost 1-0 to Group B leaders Wales in their last outing in June and meet Bosnia on Thursday and Cyprus on Sept. 6.

Lopes moves: Manchester City’s youngest ever goalscorer Marcos Lopes has joined Monaco on a permanent deal. The 20-year-old Portuguese midfielder had spent last season on loan in France with Lille. Lopes was aged 17 years and nine days when he scored on his Manchester City debut in a League Cup game at Watford .

Sturridge: Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge could be closing in on a return to action after training alongside the first team for the first time since undergoing hip surgery in the United States in May. The 25-year-old scored five goals in just 18 appearances for the Merseyside club in an injury-hit campaign last season with his last appearance coming in a 1-0 FA Cup win at Blackburn Rovers on April 8.

Stones: John Stones will remain at the heart of Everton’s defence against Tottenham Hotspur for tomorrow’s English Premier Lea-gue clash despite seeing a transfer request rejected this week. The 21-year-old England international has been told by his club that he will not be sold to Chelsea during this transfer window and boss Roberto Martinez yesterday said he is confident Stones is in the right frame of mind to feature at White Hart Lane.
