Mosta secured their second win of the season when they had the better of Qormi 1-0 at the Tedesco Stadium.

The Blues started brightly and after two minutes Tyrone Farrugia connected with Manolito Micallef’s corner kick but his downward header flew just wide.

The Blues continued to hold the initiative and on 14on 14 minutes Manolito Micallef hit a rasping drive that flashed past the upright.

The match fell into a scrappy period and in fact we had to wait until two minutes from the break when when from a free-kick action Carlo Monti’s low drive just missed the Mosta goal.

The match sprung to life on the restart as on 47 minutes Frederick chipped the ball towards Saviour Fidelis who beat Agius to the ball before hitting a low drive that nestled into the net.

Mosta almost struck again a minute later when Frederick stormed into the area and set up Samuel Chukwide who fired wide with only Vella to beat.

Eighteen minutes from time, Mosta protested for a penalty when Micallef was bundled in the area by Agius but referee Alan Mario Sant waved play on.

Mosta almost sealed the points in time added on when Manolito Micallef played in Edile Micheletti whose angled drive flashed wide.

Mosta’s Manolito Micallef was voted as the BOV Player of the match.
