The Austrian government said today that investigators have found more than 70 bodies in a lorry full of refugees discovered abandoned on a motorway yesterday.

Austrian police had originally put the toll at up to 50. The lorry had been driven to Austria from Hungary.

The Austrian Interior Ministry said the refugees may already have been dead when the lorry crossed the border.
