A man from Birżebbuġa who was handed a probation order on Tuesday was back in court yesterday, charged with an identical crime.

Police Inspector Josric Mifsud charged Patrick Pullicino, 21, with having stolen €355 from the Lourdes Service Station in Żabbar at around 1am last Sunday before breaking into premises belonging to JCC Enterprises in Għaxaq and stealing a further €50. He was also charged with causing some €140 in damage to the petrol stations.

Before magistrate Neville Camilleri, Mr Pullicino pleaded guilty to the charges brought against him.

He was in court on Tuesday when he admitted to stealing €950 from car wash machines in Fgura on Sunday night and was handed a three-year probation order.

In view of this judgment, he was initially charged with breaching the conditions of a previous release.

However, this charge was withdrawn when lawyers Angie Muscat and Franco Debono, who appeared for the man, pointed out that the new theft he was being charged with had preceded the other ones.

The court handed down a two-year probation order to run concurrently with the previous probation order.
