An Irish couple stole just over €77 in tips from a bar and a cafeteria, used the money to binge on alcohol and then entered a stranger’s house where they were found asleep, a court heard.
Eoin Eamonn Hogan, 31, and his girlfriend Elaine Hurley, 28, first stole tips from Black Bull Pub in Paceville on Tuesday night and then from Cara’s Cafeteria in Sliema on Wednesday evening.
They then entered the residence where they were found asleep.
Defence counsel Mark Mifsud Cutajar, who was appointed legal aid, said his clients were apologising for being intoxicated and for their actions, described by prosecuting officer Neville Mercieca as “childish acts”.
Magistrate Neville Camilleri conditionally discharged them for a year and gave them two days to repay the money they had stolen.
