I thank the Times of Malta for the gift of photographs from their archives.

The second in the series, the view of the Grand Harbour, was taken in October 1969 and shows the Dutch cruiser De Ruyter on buoys in the foreground and HMS Eagle being manoeuvred between French Creek and Corradino.

The Dutch cruiser was here between October 31 and November 6. The Eagle also arrived on that date but sailed on November 13.

The tug at the bows is Midmed St Rocco. The tug is still extant and is now owned by Cassar Shipyard.
