Neptunes Grimaldi will be looking to bounce back from the heart-breaking KO final defeat to San Ġiljan Crystal Finance Investment when they face Sliema Frank Salt Real Estate in a crucial Premier Division clash this evening.

The Balluta Bay Reds go into today’s match under added pressure as after losing the KO final in dramatic fashion to San Ġiljan 13-12 on Saturday, they must avoid defeat to their fierce rivals Sliema to keep alive their hopes of a sixth successive league title.

Neptunes are currently trailing San Ġiljan by five points in the standings and failure to beat the Blues tonight will hand the title to the Saints, their first since 1995.

Zoran Mustur’s Neptunes have a psychological edge over Sliema this summer as they won two of their last three meetings with the other match ending in a 9-9 draw.

This evening’s programme at the National Pool will get under way with the BOV First Division KO final between Marsascala Nutrition Empire and Marsaxlokk Fischer.

On Saturday, these two teams were involved in an exciting title decider which saw Marsascala beating their southern rivals 17-14 to retain the title.

Marsaxlokk will be keen to avenge that upset today while Marsascala are all geared up to complete a league and cup double ahead of their play-offs with Exiles for a place in the top flight next year.
