Updated - A 29-year-old man was injured in an unusual boating incident yesterday when he was slammed from one side of a boat to another after the boat suffered a technical fault.

The AFM and the police said the incident happened yesterday at about 6pm some 500 metres off St George's Bay.

Three men were sailing towards Msida when their boat developed a mechanical fault which caused the vessel to circle at high speed.

The twenty-nine-year-old, who lives in Sliema, was injured when he was allegedly slammed from side to side, the police said.

On being taken to hospital, the man was found to be in critical condition.

The other two men on the boat were the patient's brother, a twenty-three-year-old who lives in Sliema and a twenty-two-year-old who lives in Iklin. Both were unhurt in the incident.
