Pierre Cremona, 42, will be indicted on aggravated drug possession and dangerous driving after a court ruled there was enough evidence.

Mr Cremona, of Qormi, was arrested by the police after exiting the car park of the McDonald’s restaurant in Għargħur and 400g of cannabis was found in a packet on the passenger seat.

Inspector Gabriel Micallef testified that police officers monitored the area after he had received information Mr Cremona was going to be involved in a drug deal.

When Mr Cremona realised that he was being surrounded, he tried to escape. He reversed his car the length of the road but stopped at the corner, where the police rammed his car.

Magistrate Neville Camilleri granted Mr Cremona bail against a deposit of €1,000 and a personal guarantee of €10,000.

Inspector Gabriel Micallef prosecuted, while lawyers Franco Debono, Marion Camilleri and Veronique Dalli appeared for Mr Cremona.
