The Gozo University Group (GUG) expressed concern today that Gozitan University students were finding it difficult to rent near the university at Tal-Qroqq, especially because of rising costs.

"This has become the norm of the day, since the demand for accommodation in Msida has increased, apartment owners are obtaining a higher rent, consequently less property is available for Gozitan students," the group said.

"It has become really difficult for students to find a suitable accommodation with reasonable prices. Rents for apartments are rising every year and it is becoming much more difficult for Gozitan students to cope."

GUG said the grant which students receive is beneficial, but it does not cover the expenses incurred monthly.

It called for a strategic plan for accommodation in Msida.
