Van Marwijk: Former Netherlands coach Bert Van Marwijk will lead Saudi Arabia for one year after being appointed as their manager yesterday. Van Marwijk will arrive in Jeddah on Sunday and his deal will start from Sept. 1, the Saudi Football Association said on Twitter. Van Marwijk succeeded Saudi coach Faisal al-Badin who took charge of the Arab Gulf nation’s team in February.

Argentina: Argentina have lost four injured or unfit players for their September tour of Texas including Angel Di Maria and Javier Pastore, the Argentine FA said. Coach Gerardo Martino has also lost Pablo Zabaleta and Lucas Biglia calling up San Lorenzo defender Emmanuel Mas and River Plate midfielder Matias Kranevitter in their place. Martino, who announced his squad a week ago, may name more players for the tour with friendlies against Bolivia in Houston on Sept. 4 and Mexico in Dallas four days later.

Kang: South Korean club Jeju United released forward Kang Soo-il on Tuesday after the player currently serving a doping ban was arrested following a traffic accident on Monday. Yonhap News reported that the talented striker had also been placed on a restricted list, meaning he would not be able to sign for another club without Jeju’s permission.

England U-21: Liverpool duo Jordon Ibe and Joe Gomez and Everton’s Brendan Galloway are among 14 uncapped players that have been included in the England Under-21 squad for the forthcoming matches against the US and Norway. Manchester United forward James Wilson and Tottenham’s Delle Ali are also part of the uncapped group within the 23-man squad.

Sakho: West Ham striker Diafra Sakho has been arrested on suspicion of making threats to kill and witness intimidation, according to reports. The Sun said the 25-year-old was arrested on Sunday night before being bailed, having previously been questioned over an alleged assault earlier this month. Senegal international Sakho joined West Ham from French club Metz in August last year and has scored 10 goals for the team in 26 Barclays Premier League appearances.

Barcelona: Champions Barce-lona have appealed against the yellow cards shown to Luis Suarez, Ivan Rakitic and Thomas Vermaelen in their opening La Liga match of the season, a 1-0 victory at Athletic Bilbao on Sunday. “The club considers the reasons outlined in the referee’s report inadmissible,” Barca said. According to the referee report Rakitic were booked for catching an opponent with an arm while Vermaelen was cautioned for tripping one of the Bilbao players.
