The Ħal Far Raceway opened its gates for the second race from the 2015 BaldBeard Cycling Event.

The criterium series is being held in collaboration with the Malta Drag Racing Association.

Tomas Najner (Greens CC) and Gerard Said (Greens CC) managed to break away from the main group in the early stages of the race.

The two paced each other perfectly and soon opened a very comfortable lead. It was at this point that Mark Bonnici (Agones SFC) and Mark Micallef (The Cyclist CC) made a concerted effort to close the gap on the two riders in front.

They soon joined up with Najer and Said and the gap with the rest of the field at this stage had grown to 30 seconds. In the final sprint, Bonnici showed better coordination to outsmart Najer and Said, second and third respectively.

Lara Buttigieg (Agones SFC) won the women’s criterium following a very consistent ride from start to finish.

The third and final race from the BaldBeard Criteriums series will take place at the Raceway on Sept. 11.

The major sponsors of the event are Candylicious, Mixologist, The Cyclist, Delta Media Services, Bearded Man Malta and Express Bikes.
