Update 2 - The driver of a car which hit two persons and kept on going in Rabat early this morning has been identified and is being questioned, the police said. It is understood that he turned himself in.

The incident happened at about 2.50 am in Racecourse Street, Rabat (Malta.

A 21-year-old man from Rabat was critically injured. A 21-year-old woman from Mellieha was also hurt. 

The police said the two were among several pedestrians walking in the street when they were hit by the car.  

In a separate incident, the police also reported that a 58-year-old foreign man was critically injured when he was hit by a Ford Fiesta car in Marsa late yesterday.

The incident happened in Triq Marsa at 9.45pm.

The car was being driven by a 58-year-old man from Fgura.
