Vargas: Chile striker Eduardo Vargas has agreed to join Bundesliga side Hoffenheim from Serie A side Napoli. The forward underwent a medical last weekend and is set to complete the transfer. It is believed Napoli will receive €5m plus a percentage of any future sale. “We have reached an agreement between the clubs and with the player,” Hoffenheim director of sport Alexander Rosen said.

Malouda: Former Chelsea winger Florent Malouda will join Brazilian Roberto Carlos at the Delhi Dynamos for the second season of the Indian Super League, the club announced yesterday. The 35-year-old former France international last played for Metz. “I am extremely excited for my new innings and to join forces with Roberto Carlos,” the former Lyon player said in a club statement.

Van Dijk: Virgil van Dijk will play for Celtic in their crunch Champions League play-off clash with Malmo tomorrow night. Reports suggest that Southampton had won the race to sign the 24-year-old Dutch defender in a £10million deal, and that consequently he would miss the second leg in Sweden to join up with the south coast club. However, a spokesman for the Scottish champions said: “The story is nonsense and Virgil will play on Tuesday.”

Bernard: Everton are targeting a move for Shakhtar Donetsk forward Bernard after cooling their interest in Ukraine international Andriy Yarmolenko. Roberto Martinez’s side were locked in negotiations with Dynamo Kiev and were ready to meet Yarmolenko’s €20m release clause but with negotiations proving difficult they have stepped away from the deal. They have reportedly switched targets and hope to tie up a deal for Bernard.

Pato: Brazilian forward Pato says he would like to return to Europe and play in the Champions League. The 25-year-old is currently with Sao Paulo on loan from Corinthians after leaving Milan in 2012. He has been linked with a move this summer and told Marca: “I feel happy at Sao Paulo but my big dream is to play in the Champions League.

Barcelona: Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets and fullback Dani Alves will have tests today after they picked up injuries in yesterday’s 1-0 La Liga victory at Athletic Bilbao. Busquets clashed with Bilbao striker Aritz Aduriz in the second half of the season opener at the San Mames and sustained a knock to his right ankle. Alves has a suspected adductor muscle strain.
