To a lot of people the internet is a mystery. Somehow, we have managed to create this other world similar to another dimension, as described in movies like Star Trek or the more recent Interstellar.

Being in another dimension seems to mean that you are no longer governed by the laws us mere mortals dwelling on planet earth are. Faced with myriad obstacles and possessing an endless list of excuses, the internet dimension dwellers seem to be free to blur the lines or even destroy the line entirely between what is right and what is wrong.

I can mention some very serious examples, such as paedophiles having easy access to all your children’s photos, where they go to school, what dance classes they attend and when. However, this topic has been covered ad nauseam and people are more aware of it.

The crime I wish to mention, the sale of counterfeit products, is a less serious crime but one which people are punished for nonetheless. Lately, this practice has become quite the norm online and you don’t have to go very far to find it.

I contacted one such seller regarding a particular brand and was replied to straight away with answers about the size and colour of a pair of shoes.

When asked if this was an original brand, the seller stopped responding.
