Level 2 at Bay Street is currently undergoing major refurbishment works.

Inspired by a vortex, the designers have enhanced the classic shop façade idea to recreate an elegant European square with classic boutique shop fronts.

The entrance to the retail area will be dressed up with a similar portal, inviting patrons to walk in and enjoy the new experience. Tables and chairs will be placed in the square for people to meet and hang out.

The Bortex outlet will remain on the left and two new shops, Cortefiel and Women’s Secret, will be opening in October.

Spanish clothing manufacturer Grupo Cortefiel, which incorporates the Women’ Secret brand, started off as a haberdashery which brothers Felipe and Rufino García Quirós inherited in Madrid in 1880. Over a span of 40 years, the shops expanded to three under the name Almacenes Quirós.

The family changed the name to Cortefiel in 1946, intending to offer more of a tailoring business. It became a pioneer in innovation and used the same mass production technique for shirts to make men’s suits.

The brand became a watchword for quality traditional outfits targeting men and women with a youthful outlook on life. Among its clients were US President Lyndon Johnson, actor Peter Falk, who played Colombo wearing a Cortefiel gabardine, and Bill Cosby.

Cortefiel is today present in 29 countries with 393 direct operated stores and franchises. Through its collections, the brand invites customers to discover a fashion quality alternative.

Women’s Secret was first launched in 1993 and 20 years later, is a leading underwear, lingerie and swimwear brand in Spain. Designed for a cosmopolitan look and aimed at a dynamic, innovative, curious and active woman, the brand offers everyday comfort.

The brand philosophy revolves around creating new ideas to make life simpler and more fun.

Women’s Secret has a product range built around a ‘pretty, comfortable and sexy’ motto. The products include lifestyle intimates for every occasion, underwear, sleepwear, homewear, swimwear and accessories, which take in hats, beach wraps and bags.

The brand is committed to quality and innovation and designs new collections made with new-generation fabrics and the latest technology, concepts that match the latest trends and offers solutions to specific needs.

To ensure the right fit, a pattern design department ensures that garments guarantee the best look for every occasion.

A major innovation on Level 2 is the Champaign Bar concept to enable customers on this level to be pampered by their hosts. This will occupy the central area outside the stores and is a totally innovated concept for Malta.

Bay Street is open Monday to Sunday from 10am to 10pm. For more information, call 2138 4211 or visit www.facebook.com/baystreetmalta.
