The other morning, I was in Gozo and needed to be at work in Żurrieq by 9am to open my shop.

As I have done on other mornings, I got to the ferry at 8am and, ticket in hand, made it to the gate by 8.08am, only for the gentleman to tell me that they were full and, therefore, I had to wait for the next ferry.

I drive a Citroen C2, not a big car. Within a minute, a Mercedes with a CQZ number plate and an Opel, GWL, were both allowed onto the ferry.

I am sure both these people paid the price of €15.75 as did I. But why were they preferred?
