As part of her regular visits to schools, President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca and Mr Preca visited children attending the Skolasajf centre in Siġġiewi, accompanied by Bank of Valletta CEO Charles Borg, Foundation for Educational Services CEO Elizabeth Pisani and the centre’s coordinator Rodianne Fenech.

The President was given an overview of activities being undertaken by the children and carers, including initiatives focused on raising funds for L-Istrina BOV Piggy Bank campaign during the summer season.

Mr Borg said: “In line with the President’s wish, L-Istrina BOV Piggy Bank campaign is being extended to the summer months, giving more opportunity to children to actively support others through their actions.”

Ms Pisani said she was pleased to see the extension of the campaign being piloted during the Skolasajf programme. Over 60 centres are offering the programme this summer.

“Our main goal is to provide an informal educational experience that helps students develop their holistic development while providing them with recreation.”

Thanking the children and their carers, the President said their small gesture had a multiple effect. It showed each one of us the true value of altruism and what it meant to be part of a community.

In addition to L-Istrina BOV Piggy Bank Campaign, BOV supports other initiatives such as Rockestra, Paqpaqli għall-Istrina, the August Moon Ball and Tisjir mill-Qalb.
