BUHAGIAR. On August 10, at Mater Dei Hospital, ALFRED of Qawra, pass­ed away peacefully at the age of 73, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his ex-wife Linda, his children Karen and her husband Stewart, Paul and his partner Liesel, his grandchildren Shania and Bill, his sisters Rose and her husband Louis Pisani, Helen and her husband Benny Grech Pillow, Carmen, widow of Paul Gatt, Lucia and her husband Joe Vella, and his brother Joe, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital on Wednesday at 7.45am for St Francis parish church, Qawra, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 8.30am, followed by interment at the Ħniena Divina cemetery, St Paul’s Bay. BUTTIGIEG. On August 13, at Mater Dei Hospital, KARMEN, aged 69, went to meet the Risen Lord comforted by the rites of Holy Church, after a very long illness borne with great Christian fortitude. She leaves to mourn her loss her beloved husband Wilfrid, her sister Miriam and her mother Ersilia, her brother-in-law Joseph and his wife Pauline, her sister-in-law Marlene, her bro­ther-in-law Albert and his wife Janice, her sister-in-law Berna­dette and her husband Frank, her sister-in-law Monica Grima and her daughter Olivia Ann, neph­ews, nieces, other relatives and friends, most especially her long lifetime helper and carer, Tessa Micallef, who nursed and looked after her incessantly, and Enzo Gusman who was always there to help her throughout the early stages of her illness when she worked for Barclays Bank Ltd. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital on Tuesday at 8.15am for St Cajetan parish church, Ħamrun, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 9am, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be appreciated. Good Lord, grant her eternal rest. A special word of thanks goes to the medical staff at the Mater Dei Emergency Ward, most especially the CPR Unit, who worked really hard trying to save her life.

CALLEJA. On August 14, at Mater Dei Hospital, CHARLES, residing in St Paul’s Bay, aged 84, went to meet the Risen Lord comforted by rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife Therese née De Conti Manduca, his children Sharon and Joe, Roger and Patty, Brian and Fiona, his grandchildren Geoffrey and Marie Claire, Maxine, Julian, Matthew and Emily, his sister Louise, widow of Joe Tanti, his in-laws and their families, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. He leaves to mourn his irreparable loss his beloved parents Rita and Samuel, much loved and missed by his brothers Matthew, Thomas and Isaac, his grandmother Doris and grandfather Publius, his uncles and aunties, Paul and his wife Madeline, Antoinette, widow of Ruben Sammut, Ruth and her husband Wilfred Aguis, Daniel and his wife Jennifer, Noemi and her husband Evarist Brancleon, and Jahel, his cousins, other relatives and numerous friends. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Josette and her husband Kevin Mifsud, Noel and his wife Silvana, her grandchildren Kyle and Jake, her sisters and brothers, Maria, Pauline, Victoria, John and his wife Rita, Viviane, widow of her brother Frans, of Australia, in-laws and their families, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. ZAMMIT. On August 12, at Mater Dei Hospital, JOSEPH of St Julian’s, residing at Ħamrun, (ex-assistant director, Ministry for Social Security), aged 64, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church and surrounded by his family. He is loved and will be deeply missed by his wife Maryrit and his children Jessica and Clyde and his sister Miriam, other relatives and friends. The family of LINA GAUCI, née Attard Flores, who went to meet the Risen Christ on July 8, her children Maria and her husband Michael Tanti, David, and Dorianne and her husband Marco Farrugia, together with their children would like to thank parish priest Fr Noel Vassallo for the funeral Mass, the choir, relatives and friends who attended the funeral, sent flowers, cards and donations.
