• The following activities are being held at Don Bosco Oratory, Victoria, to mark the 200th anniversary of the birth of St John Bosco, patron saint of children: A parade by the Salesian Boys Brigade will be held today at 9am from Republic Street, Victoria, to the oratory in St Augustine’s Square. At 9.30am a procession with the saint’s statue will leave the oratory, and at 10.30am Gozo Bishop Mario Grech will lead High Mass in the oratory chapel. Tomorrow at 9am a Mass for children animated with puppets will be celebrated by Fr Daniel Cardona. Afterwards there will be a magic show by Mr Remy, a visit by cartoon characters, face-painting, a bouncing castle and a party. All children are invited.

• An exhibition of books published by Gozitan author Anton Attard is open at Leone Band Club, Victoria.

• A blood donation session will be held at Gozo General Hospital on Tuesday from 1 to 5pm.

• The traditional dinner of St Mary Fireworks Group, Żebbuġ, will take place in the village square on Tuesday from 8pm onwards. Cini Brothers Band and Johnny Cash & Band will provide entertainment. Tickets are €12 for adults and €7 for children. For booking call 9986 6734, 9988 8471 or 2155 9568.

• ‘Assumptafest’, open-air musical concert of classical and popular US music, will be performed by Santa Mari­ja Band, Żebbuġ, on Wednesday at 8.30pm in the village’s main square. The concert, under the direction of Joseph Grech, is organised by the local council in collaboration with the Gozo Ministry and US Embassy.

• A diocesan Marian manifestation will be held in Valley Road, Marsalforn, on August 25. After an animated rosary at 7.30pm Gozo Bishop Mario Grech will lead a concelebrated Mass.

• A concert entitled Stage and Proms on the Sea will be held by the Gozo Youth Wind Band and foreign and Maltese musicians on August 31 at 8.30pm at the Mġarr marina.
