High-wire daredevil Nik Wallenda has completed his longest yet tightrope walk during an appearance at the Wisconsin State Fair.

He crossed the 1,576ft wire that was strung more than 10 storeys above the Milwaukee Mile Speedway on the fairgrounds, TV station WTMJ said.

Wallenda, 36, holds nine Guinness World Records for his stunts. He walked across Niagara Falls in 2012.

He had been expected to carry a 45lb bar for stability and wear soft shoes made by his mother Delilah, a member of the famous Flying Wallendas.
