Hibs captain Andrew Cohen is keen to inspire his team to another honour after playing a starring role in their title feat last season.

“Last season was a very positive one for us,” Cohen, the 2014/15 MFA footballer of the year, said.

“We won the league emphatically but lost the final of the Trophy (2-0 against Birkirkara).

“Birkirkara were one of the teams that gave us a tough ride last season and I don’t expect that to change this year.

“This is another final and we’re looking forward to it as these are the kind of games that players like to be involved in.”

The 34-year-old is aware that maintaining the standards of performance he achieved last season will not be easy but he believes that everything is in place for Hibs to have another successful campaign.

“Keeping the same standards as last year will be difficult but when I first won the player of the year award in 2004/05, I managed to retain it the year after,” the Malta midfielder said.

“I know that emulating that feat is hard but I’m just concentrating on doing well for the team.

“We have retained the nucleus of players we had last season and that for me is very important.

“Without the support of my team-mates, it wouldn’t be possible for me to show my best.”
