The Maltese are not benefitting from a reduction in the price of fuel even though the price of oil had fallen below $50 a barrel, shadow minister Marthese Portelli said.

She said in a statement that when oil cose $123 a barrel, unleaded petrol in Malta cost €1.38 per litre and diesel €1.31 per litre.

Now that the price of oil was less than $50 a barrel, petrol in Malta cost €1.35 per litre, diesel €1.26 per litre.

This clearly reflected the blatant deft and confirmed that the reduction in the cost of gas was superficial.
