Lazio are closing in on a deal for Genk’s Serbian midfielder Sergei Milinkovic-Savic. The 20-year-old is Italy-bound, having caught the eye at this summer’s Under-20 World Cup.

Milinkovic-Savic, who signed a five-year contract with the Belgian side last summer, won the Bronze Ball as Serbia won the tournament in New Zealand.

A statement on Genk’s official website read: “Milinkovic-Savic will undergo a medical ahead of a move to Lazio.

“The deal has been finalised and he will become a Lazio player in the coming days.

“At this stage though it is not known exactly how much the fee will be. We do know, however, that this will be the biggest sale in the club’s history.”

Milinkovic-Savic made 24 appearances for Genk during his one season in the Belgian league after joining from Vojvodina in 2014, scoring five goals.
