“This year’s festival tried to be as all-encompassing as possible, retaining the standard it is known for but diversifying in style and genre, making sure there really is something for all.
“We wanted to experiment through expressivity and innovation, fused with a celebration of what already is. We wanted to represent what is happening in the arts today. We wanted to challenge preconceptions and take audiences to new experiences.
“We wanted to spark curiosity, to shock, to cause wonder, and, yes, even rejection and controversy; but we also wanted to engage with the community,and provide an inter-active environment for everyone to experience the arts, be inspired and become involved, thus nurturing the audiences of the future as well as enriching people’s lives.” Michelle Castelleti, artistic director of the Malta Arts Festival.
