The Farsons Beer Festival comes to an end today with a series of gigs on the main stage and the rock stage.

The main stage sees Strummin’ and the Amsterdam Klezmer Band performing.

This is the first time that charity music outfit Strummin’ is taking part. The brainchild of the Żgħażagħ Ħaddiema Nsara (ŻHN), Stummin’ has been performing since 2002, helping various charities along the way.

The outfit brings together all the usual elements of a band – drums, bass, guitars, keyboards, vocals and backing vocals – with about 60 acoustic guitarists.

The beer festival performance will be a stripped-down version of this usual format, with lesser acoustic guitarists on stage but the usual full sound. This particular event is expected to include a number of well-known singers who have taken part in Strummin’ over the years.

Playing Klezmer and Balkan music, the Amsterdam Klezmer Band is made up of Jasper de Beer on double bass, guitar banjo, backing vocals; Job Chajes on alto saxophone, vocals; Alec Kopyt on vocals, percussions; Gijs Levelt on trumpet; Joop van der Linden on trombone, percussions; Janfie van Strien on clarinet, backing vocals and Theo van Tol on accordion.

The rock stage will see alternative rock band Water-Wings, reggae, ska and roots gurus ManaTapu and the perennially fun Fakawi taking to the stage and closing off the festival in style.
