Tourists roaming popular attractions in Malta will come across students eager to share information and tips about particular hotspots and landmarks, thanks to a new initiative.

Trained on behalf of the tourism authority, these 12 students are equipped with computer tablets configured with maps and information on particular attractions.

Called ‘Tourist Assistants’, they are guiding tourists and providing them with recommendations on the spot, or by e-mail, if necessary.

At the moment, the assistants are roaming the Upper Barrakka Gardens, the Castille area, St John’s Cathedral, the Grandmaster’s Palace, the Sliema Ferries, the Greek Gate in Mdina, and the areas around the Love monument and St George’s Bay in St Julian’s.
