In the first half of this year, the government registered a surplus of €107.2 million, the National Statistics Office said yesterday.

Between January and June recurrent revenue increased by €193.1 million which outweighed the rise in expenditure, which totalled €85.8 million.

At the end of last June, government debt stood at €5.4 billion, a decline of €99.4 million over the corresponding period of last year. This was the result of lower Treasury Bills and foreign loans which outweighed the increase in Malta Government Stocks.
