Two Swiss tourists caught skinny dipping in Sliema on Thursday afternoon were fined €100.

Benjamin Elias and Eric Albert, 21, told the court skinny dipping was legal in Switzerland and they had no clue it was not allowed in Malta.

Magistrate Antonio Vella told them swimming naked was illegal in most parts of the world. He fined them €100 after they apologised for their actions.

Police Inspector Jason Sultana prosecuted.

Lawyer Martin Fenech appeared for the students.
