Floriana are expected to sanction Matteo Piciollo’s move to ASD Lupa Castelli Romani following clear-the-air talks between the Italian striker and Riccardo Gaucci, the president of the BOV Premier League club.

Piciollo’s failure to report for pre-season training earlier this month infuriated the Greens who responded by suspending the Italian striker for 28 days without pay.

The club had also notified the Malta FA about their decision to suspend Piciollo but the latter has since ironed out his differences with the club, particularly Gaucci who was responsible for luring him to Floriana last summer.

Contacted by Times of Malta yesterday, Gaucci, Floriana’s Italian president, confirmed that he is trying to resolve the contractual dispute with Piciollo in an amicable manner.

The 22-year-old has another two years left on his deal with Floriana but Gaucci hinted that the club is likely to allow Piciollo to join ASD Lupa Castelli Romani on a season-long loan deal.

Piciollo, widely regarded as one of Floriana’s best players last season, is expected to be offered a contract by ASD Lupa Castelli Romani after joining the Lega Pro club for a trial a few days ago.

Floriana have made another important step in their on-going quest to put the club on a sound financial footing.

Yesterday, the Greens an-nounced that they have reached an out-of-court settlement to end all the legal disputes with former president Johann Said.

“This amicable solution is the end-result of the good faith shown and expressed by all the parties involved, thus for the well-being of the club,” Floriana said in a statement.

“Consequently, Floriana FC will now be in a better position to reach its goals and ensure the financial sustainability of the club.”

Meanwhile, Floriana, who earlier this week lost to champions Hibernians 3-2 in a friendly, have added another defender to their squad after completing the signing of 31-year-old Spanish centre-half Ubay Luzardo Santana.
