The roaring engines of off-road buggies at the 2015 King of Wales are calling one of Malta’s finest drivers, Neville Ciantar, to join the international field of competitors at the Ultra4Europe contest.

Ultra4Europe knows its origins to the Ultra4Racing USA and the renowned King of the Hammers. This year, the King of Wales will be the second event of this championship series.

From the Californian desert and across multiple countries in Europe, this organisation has evolved to Italy, Wales, Portugal and soon to France and Australia.

Indeed, Ultra4Racing is growing at a very fast pace.

Ciantar, of Nusu Off-Road Team, will be joined by Alan Zahra, of Pitass Racing, for this forthcoming motorsport event between August 7 and 9.

The King of Wales, originally named King of the Valleys, has become one of the toughest off-road races in the UK circuit.

Ciantar is taking part in this event for the second time, having finished ninth in 2013.

Competitors and spectators from all parts of the country flock to this race every year. Spread over a weekend, the challenge in Wales involves a multitude of terrain types from wet and muddy sections, dry gravel plains, forest woods, rocky boulder sections and river crossings to quarry paths and rock walls which require fine winching capabilities and skilful technique to master, over a total of 165 miles.

In the inaugural event of this year’s championship, Ciantar kept the Maltese flag flying high on the hills of Parma where he accomplished his most prestigious result to date... third place overall in the King of Italy stage.

In a statement, Ciantar thanked his family and friends who help him attain his goals.

Ciantar added he was also grateful to his few but extremely helpful sponsors and the team’s supporters, Kunsill Malti għall-Isport and the Malta Motorsport Federation.

The Nusu team is made up of Ciantar (driver/owner), Thomas Tanti (co-driver), Malcolm Gauci (chief mechanic) and helpers Lee Ciantar, Charlene Ciantar, Brian Agius and Rupert Galea.
