Prime Minister Joseph Muscat this evening presented a plaster cast of former Prime Minister Dom Mintoff’s monument to St George’s Band of Cospicua, which Mr Mintoff presided for more than 50 years.

Dr Muscat said that the principle of distributing the wealth created through economic growth to the masses was something Mr Mintoff had always believed in.

In the past two years, he said, the Labour government worked to encourage businesses to create more work, which meant more jobs and opportunities for young people.

The results being achieved were due to the decisions being taken, he said, adding that for the first time in years, the country was considering increases in pensions and social benefits.
