The Education Ministry and the Foundation for Tomorrow's Schools will be spending more than €18 million on school maintenance projects this year, Education Minister Evarist Bartolo said today.

More than €1 million will be spent  on a number of schools, including in Pembroke, Rabat, Cospicua, Naxxar, Birkirkara and Victoria.

While visiting the €900,000 San Ġwann Kindergarten project, Mr Bartolo said better school environments led to more motivated staff and safer surroundings for children.

He said that in Cospicua and Birkirkara, the second phase of projects have been completed while work on the new Pembroke Sports School, as well as on the new block in Naxxar's Secondary School, was moving at a good pace.
