With the national debt up to the end of last year standing at €5.4 billion and still counting, I find it a bit absurd of the government to fork out €1,349,538 to bring over Maltese from abroad to vote in the hunting referendum.

With all the advanced technology available these days, isn’t it possible for the authorities to adopt an economical voting system for those Maltese people working abroad, rather than pay their air fares to bring them home? If that isn’t a waste of money, I don’t know what is.

Bringing down the national debt by putting in place cost cutting measures should always be given first priority.

“Blessed are the young for they shall inherit the national debt.”
