The body of a woman found dead in Marsalforn Valley on Sunday afternoon has been confirmed as that of a 72-year-old Danish woman, who had been reported missing to the police on Friday.

The woman was found by a man walking his dog, completely naked and face down in a pool of water.

The police said the identity of the woman was confirmed through forensic tests. They are treating the case as a “suspicious death” for although the wounds she suffered could have been due to foul play, they could also be the result of a fall.

An autopsy established she had suffered a blow to her head, bruises to her chest and a broken rib.

The woman was here on holiday with her son-in-law, his brother and two grandchildren.

They called for people who had any information which might help in their investigations to contact them on tel. 119, in a confidential manner.
